aftercare

  1. Brush your hair before washing

It’s important to detangle as much as possible before getting your hair extensions wet. Brush first making sure to avoid the weft line. Work the shampoo and conditioner through your hair between your separated rows.It is highly recommended to use an extension brush specifically made for extensions.

2. Do not apply conditioner to the base of your extensions

Extensions should be conditioned from the middle of the hair strand down through the ends. You do not need to apply conditioner to the top of your extensions where they are attached to your natural hair. In extreme cases, adding conditioner to the base may cause slippage.

3. Sleeping rules

You must secure your hair in a loose braid or low ponytail. The goal is to keep it from rubbing on your pillowcase or getting pulled as you toss and turn at night.

Never sleep with wet or damp hair when wearing hand tied extensions. It can cause the shorter return hairs of the weft to become matted. This matting can ruin your hand tied extensions.

4. Move-ups

You will need your hand tied extensions moved up approximately every 8-10 weeks. Your exact appointment time will also be based on your stylist’s professional opinion after taking into account your natural hair density and the weight of hair on each row. Waiting too late for move-ups can result in damage of the hair.

5. Moisturizing products

It is important to know the products you use will directly affect the life of your extensions. Products must be very moisturizing. Please note not all products that say they are for extensions will work for your hand-tied hair. My go-to brand is Davines. Its important to use leave-in conditioner, oil, heat protectant, and both shampoo and conditioner of quality. Product suggestions will be provided by myself during the first appointment.
